The Sta. Mariana de Jesús Park, located in front of the Carrera Sánchez Bruno School in Ballenita and which has spent several (too many) years in almost total abandonment, has been the subject of negotiations and some concrete actions for a couple of weeks now that aim to restore its quality as a space for healthy fun and gathering for children and adults of this community and its visitors.
Carolina Bermeo (President of the Committee for the Improvement of Ballenita Park) states that "the objective is to achieve, through joint work between the community and the contributions of people and institutions, that the park be a place where it is a pleasure to go with our children to have a good time."
For this reason, they have begun to make contacts with representatives of the tourist and commercial sector of the canton and the province, which already includes a crusade that took place last Saturday, the 7th, to obtain funds for the mobilizations and actions that they must carry out, achieving significant support among the residents and some visitors.
"We are very excited and encouraged to see the support of the people and institutions to achieve our goals," said Tatiana Del Pezo (Vice-President of the same Committee).
"Today (June 14) a team from the Parks Department came to clean the land and prune the trees, and a large painting and planting event is planned for the 30th of this month," said Carolina Bermeo.
"We have almost decided on the painting and the children's games, we just need to fine-tune certain details," concluded Tatiana Del Pezo.
According to the managers, the park should be fully ready for use at the beginning of September.
Ballenita is the first resort in the Santa Elena canton and the closest to the cantonal capital.
