In the Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku, "Town of Midday," Pachamama Uyanza is celebrated every year in the month of May.

This celebration is held in gratitude for the kindness that the earth gives us, the Kawsak Sacha – Living Forest and the protective beings who maintain the harmony of the life of the Amazonian Native Peoples such as the Corn River – Sarayaku.

Likewise, this day commemorates May 11, 1992, the date on which the peoples and nationalities of Ecuador carried out the first indigenous uprising in a great historical march called "ALLPAMANDA, KAWSAYMANDA JATARISUHUN" whose thought originated in the Sarayaku People. It is on this date that the ancestral collective territories of the original peoples and nationalities were legally recognized by the Ecuadorian state.

The celebration in honor of Pachamama is also a space where we seek to consolidate unity, brotherhood, solidarity, harmony and peace among peoples and nationalities.

PACHAMA UYANZA 2013 will take place on May 17, 18 and 19 in Sarayaku.

According to the schedule, different sporting events and traditional games will be held. The act of positioning of the new Government Council of Tayjasaruta, who will lead under the principles of Sumak Allpa, Sachara Runa Yachay and Sarayaku Runa Kawsay for one consecutive year in accordance with the reform of the statute of the Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku.
