On a long walk,
earlier than the neighbor's rooster,
A cool wind came to my face
with a rather salty air
and trotting without any destination
I arrived at the beautiful Brazo del Salado
with its high tide bathing the banks of its basin
and the mangroves fed by its waters.
While all the animals were sleeping
the sun with its brilliant light and intense heat
every living being embraced by the salty water woke up.
The crabs hiding and scared
by the herons that hunt them carefully,
The swallows awakening from their sleep
they go out in search of food.
The arm of the Salado
that kisses the interior of the city,
It's the one that worries me the most
because that's when I get scared
to see so much destruction caused
by the inhabitants full of cruelty,
with the cross environment
of garbage demons in disguise.
The beautiful arm that I had seen in the morning beautiful
Now it is full of rubbish,
of unconscious people,
of self-proclaimed wise people,
that only pollute and harm
the water that bathes the bowels of the city.
My poem is to protest on behalf of the Mangrove,
on behalf of the crab, on behalf of the Heron,
for that old, unused case,
for that empty bottle thrown into the sea.
The iguana complains because you are throwing it
with a device that she would not damage,
with an instrument of death and pollution
which she would simply run away from.
Gaia asks you to take care of the Earth
Poseidon asks you to take care of the Water,
because we have no other home
in which we can live
more than this beautiful planet
which is the temple that we have to take care of.
