The 8 characters of Bumbatal are manipulated
by Fidelius the Traveler and prepared
with recycled materials
Theatre, puppets and storytelling come together in BUMBATAL, A work that, while contributing to the healthy joy of adults and children, also opens a space for reflection on the very serious problem of xenophobia that has accompanied human migrations since ancient times.

BUMBATAL It is a one-man show that, in the form of a fable and through adventure, explores various triggers of prejudice in the face of differences and the unknown.

It is well known that all cultures are always formed, yesterday and today, by the contact of people who interact in a country or region, each contributing their ways of thinking, feeling, communicating and acting.

This multiculturalism must be addressed in schools, teaching girls and boys the concept of interculturality, which emphasizes the respectful relationship between cultures.

In short, this show offers a stage game that is very easy to understand and enjoy for a wide audience, and presents a current theme related to human rights about the problems and hopes that migration generates today in various parts of the world and, of course, in our country.
Bumbatal is a puppet theater
which conveys a clear message against
xenophobia for children and adults.

All the puppets that appear in the story and the play have been made from parts of industrial by-products considered waste or garbage, transforming them, from the beginning, into objects with meaning. This decision has to do with the theme of the play itself, because the objects thus made are a metaphor for migrant human beings who have also been and are treated as garbage or waste or leftovers of today's society, which are piled up and classified into despicable and marginalized categories known as "wetbacks", "nicas", "sudacas" and "foreigners".

Fidel Román (Fidelius the Traveler) is the artist who manipulates the 8 characters that have traveled through several countries in America and who now in Santa Elena began their presentations in the Montañita commune with two presentations: one at the Rosa Mística hostel and another at the Santa María del Fiat school, taking the applause and the faces of
admiration of the children and adults who have received the message.
