REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE MORE OF US, MANY MORE
Open letter to President Rafael Correa
This phrase that you just mentioned reminds me of the one you said at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, when you told your supporters: “WE ARE 400 AND THEY ARE BARELY 50” haranguing and inciting confrontation between Ecuadorian brothers and sisters. Today (June 15) I just heard you say it again, which fills me with pain and indignation because it comes from who it comes from, our highest authority in the Nation.
You and I come from a school where we were taught moral, ethical and civic principles, to have honour, to love the country, to love God, to respect our neighbours, etc. No one can argue that the physical work of your Government is evident and, why not, unmatched by what has been done by the last rulers we have had. But tell me, what good does it do us to live in a “GOLDEN CAGE” without freedoms, without rights and above all forced to be submissive, silent, and prevented from thinking, expressing opinions and choosing.
His former vice president Lenin Moreno himself expressed it by not agreeing with indefinite reelection and the Tin Delgado case, in which there was no racial discrimination, as determined by one of the few independent judges we have left. This resulted in a cordial and friendly call to attention from those who manage the political bureau of AP and his own, saying that they respected the thoughts expressed by former vice president Lenin Moreno, but that they did not share them because they were contrary to the “organic” thinking of the Alianza Pais Movement.
The former AP Assemblyman was much clearer when he stated “ALWAYS VOTE ORGANICALLY” which made it clear that AP Assemblymen are not DELIBERATIVE, but OBEDIENT, which reminds me of when three AP ASSEMBLYMEN were sanctioned for 3 months and were ordered to remain absolutely silent for thinking differently and expressing their principles.
THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY, your actions remind me of the FRANCO era in Spain when, in order not to present themselves as DICTATORS, they invented “ORGANIC DEMOCRACY”. Mr. President, things are bad, in the country no one can hide that we are living through very difficult times, you like to be listened to but you don’t like to listen to us, that is why I am writing to you because I think you do like to read, and I suggest the following:
1.- SABATINA IN REVERSE.- Instead of us listening to you for more than three (3) hours every Saturday, why don't you listen to your people's complaints from the bad officials that surround you and hide the reality of the country from you, as well as the authorities that in the name of AP are in positions of Governors, Prefects, Mayors, Political Lieutenants, Assemblymen, etc., etc., and that behind your back they do everything contrary to what you so proclaim, and that many times you have put your hands in the fire for only listening to those around you and not to all Ecuadorians, who surely as in my case will present conclusive evidence. I repeat, make the SABATINA IN REVERSE, LET THIS BE A TRIBUNE FOR THE PEOPLE, IN WHICH THE PERSON WHO DENIES DOES NOT HAVE TO PASS THROUGH ANY FILTER, BUT IN THE EVENT THAT THE PERSON DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE, THE PERSON WHO INTENDED TO FALSELY SLANDER SHALL BE PUNISHED TO THE FULL STRENGTH OF THE LAW.”
2.- CALL FOR A GREAT NATIONAL DIALOGUE.- Delegate a High Level Commission, with a representative from the Vatican, former President Mujica, a representative from the Opposition, a representative from the Government, a representative from Unions related to the Government, and others from the opposition, to develop a short, medium and long term agenda, and to discuss it democratically and turn it into a roadmap for peace.
3.- IMMEDIATELY SUSPEND.- The debate on the Law of Inheritance, of Capital Gains, WHICH YOU SAY CORRECTLY ONLY AFFECTS 21% OF THE POPULATION BUT HAS ALREADY CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE TO MORE THAN 50% AND IF IT CONTINUES WE WOULD ENTER A RECESSION OF INCALCULABLE CONSEQUENCES.
4.- WORSE THAN THE BANK HOLIDAY.- If you continue with your stubbornness, you can be completely assured that the BANK HOLIDAY that you criticize so much and that has helped you to be where you are, will be AN INSIGNIFICANT CHILD'S PLAY due to the dire consequences that it would bring.
5.- DO NOT CONTINUE TO PUT FIRE ON THE CANDLE.- Do not incite confrontation, saying “THERE ARE MANY MORE, MANY MORE” does nothing to contribute to the PEACE, UNITY and EQUITY that you must promote, proclaim and carry out.
