Last Saturday of Carnival was the moment chosen by the authorities of the Aquarium and the Valdivia Commune to once again and peacefully raise their voices in protest against the non-compliance with the offers that have been made for several months regarding the construction of the new facilities for the Aquarium.<\/span><\/div><\/span>

The event began around noon and included a beach soccer championship, face painting for girls and boys, and the star-studded selection of the Carnival Queen and a fashion show of the models from the Ases Models agency. All accompanied by the participation of the peninsular musical groups Clave3, Party Music Los Cupidos, and Siervos Music.<\/span><\/div>

More than a thousand people from different corners of the country enjoyed the event and were informed of the situation through this new activity that once again sought to call attention to the responsible tourism authorities to comply with the offers that have been made at different levels. Throughout the event, the objective to be achieved was recalled on several occasions.<\/span><\/div>

The president of the Valdivia commune, Pedro Borbor, reported that he once again received a call from the master Paola G\u00e1lvez who told him that in the following days they would meet to decide on an exact date for the start of the works; "seeing is believing" said Borbor, "time keeps passing and people demand real actions, not just words and bureaucratic paperwork. It has been more than two years in the deteriorated "provisional" facilities that no longer give any more" concluded Borbor.<\/span><\/div>

He was referring to the facilities currently occupied by the Aquarium and to which they were \u201ctemporarily\u201d moved while the new aquarium was being built, which due to severe structural damage could never be inaugurated. Said work was executed for a value close to 300,000 dollars and according to columnist Enrique Rosales: \u201cThe contractors, who previously worked closely with the defunct corrupt entity PMRC, now act as \u201cadvisors to the citizen revolution\u201d, (and were the ones who) created the bases and technical contractual conditions (terms of reference for the contract). \u201c<\/span><\/div>

Following a strong media campaign, the company Grouprema was classified as non-compliant on the public procurement portal, after months had passed without it being included in that classification. "This is one of the partial successes of the pressure that was exerted last July," said one of the organizers of these events who preferred to remain anonymous.<\/span><\/div>

Coinciding with the date chosen for the event, a fence was placed indicating the location for the construction of a so-called Valdivia Marine Park, approximately 1 km on the road to the north of the town. Over the last few days, a photo has been circulating on social media that reminds us that the promises made in this regard last July have not been fulfilled; dozens of citizens have issued their comments on the subject.<\/span>
