--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 320\/206;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\">Since September 1, the ban on the capture of small pelagic fish in the country began, as established by Ministerial Agreement No. 47, issued by the Undersecretariat of Fisheries Resources. <\/p>\n<p>According to Douglas Burgos, Director of Fisheries Control of the SRP, the Ecuadorian State, with the aim of promoting Food Sovereignty and the capture of bi-aquatic species in general, prohibits the landing of the species sardine or pinchagua (Opisthonema spp); carita (Selene oerstedii); hojita (Chloroscombrus orqueta); chazo (Peprilus medius); huayaipe or cherna (Seriola lalandi); lechuza (Prionotus spp), as well as juveniles of large pelagic and demersal fish. <\/p>\n<p>The ban establishes the prohibition of the fishing fleet using purse seine nets, whose mesh size must not be less than 4 inches, except for the codend and forecode, which must be less than 3 \u00bd inches, said the official. <br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\">The Undersecretariat of Fisheries Resources, through the fishing inspectors who are distributed along the Ecuadorian coastal profile, the Dirnea and the Port Captaincy of Manta, work together to ensure compliance with the provisions of the fishing authority.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\"><br \/><\/span> <\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\">On the other hand, it is known that many times this ban is disrespected, since, normally&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\">A tub of sardines sells for between 12 and 15 dollars, and when there is a ban, the value triples and they are sold clandestinely,&quot; according to some fishing ship owners.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: large;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;
