After solving some technical problems, the Chulluype Festival started on Saturday afternoon, January 29th. The persistent drizzle made the nearly 700 people who were waiting for the first chords to sound impatient. When the first group to take the stage, La Huella, was announced, the spirits of hundreds of young people and residents of the area began to heat up.<\/p>\n

The festival gave way to local bands such as Aedos, Herber de Santis,
Four Pack, Santiamen, Ktorce, who went up on stage with a message in hand, the musicians of the sector were the most critical in asking the authorities of the Refinery to take measures to stop staining their beaches with the already continuous spills (3 occurred in just over a month, in fact one day after the festival there was a new spill in the Cautivo sector, very close to Chulluype).<\/p>\n

Little by little the event developed, each of the bands
Participants had their space to express themselves regarding the hydrocarbon pollution of our sea. Hector Napolitano, made the public rise as well as Guayabera Band, Marcelo Abril, Rey Camaron, La Humilde Orchestra, Son loco Son, Virgins Violadoras, The Cassettes, Eusebio President, The Chief Vergara, Radio Feroz, Tavern, Follder, Euphoria, Bosque, Cadaver Exquisito, 7 de Brillo, Childrenaurios, Cactus Gamarra, Los Brigante, Passenger, Lo Real Maravilloso, Sonic Orgasm, The Fonetics, Teleacids.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that the festival took place over two days, where the main exponents of the new generation of peninsular and Guayaquil musicians gave their best, closing
The Sunday evening ended with Segovita, who surprised everyone by coming on stage without being invited. "I also have a lot to say," said the musician.<\/p>\n

During the two days of the event, extreme care was taken with the garbage on the beach, there were recycling stations (donated by the Pika Recycle plan for permanent use in the community that welcomed us for two days), the public was informed with Ecotips between bands. There was a special area for invited artists who shared painting with the children. Likewise, the collection of almost 700 signatures of support began with the sole purpose of asking the President of Ecuador to force precautionary measures to stop the contamination of the sea with hydrocarbons. This collection of signatures will continue throughout this month in the affected towns.<\/p>\n

Chulluype Festival, for a sea without oil stains was organized with the coordination of the Online Magazine Ballenita Si and Su\u00e1kate Communication Agency, who together with <\/span>the entire group of volunteers who joined and supported the event and through social media, before, during and after. ALL the participating artists did so voluntarily, uniting a voice that we hope will be heard in the near future... especially with the precedent that is occurring with the Texaco case in our country.<\/span><\/p>\n

The organizers of the event plan to continue their fight with the sole purpose of raising awareness and educating people about what is happening.
Currently on our beaches, demanding that the refinery not contaminate the area. During the course of the Festival, several people suggested that something similar be done in other towns such as Ayangue (where they have problems with contamination from the larvae laboratories) and Esmeraldas (where a few days ago there was a spill from the refinery that caused severe environmental damage in several nearby rivers).<\/span>
