They say the world will end on December 21, 2012. The Mayan elders are furious about this. The world will not end. It will be transformed. \u201cEverything will change.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Mayan Day Keepers see this date as a rebirth, the beginning of the World of the 5th Sun, which will be indicated by the crossing of the galactic equator of the solar meridian, the earth will be aligned with the center of the galaxy. At dawn on December 21, 2012, the Sun will rise to coincide with the intersection of the Milky Way. This cosmic cross is considered the personification of the Sacred Tree, the Tree of Life, remembered in all traditions of the world. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Carlos Barrios was born in Huehuetenango, in the Guatemalan highlands, where the Mam Maya live. Together with other Maya and guardians of indigenous tradition, the Mam maintain some of the old customs. Years ago, together with his brother Gerardo, they interviewed almost 600 traditional Mayan elders to expand their knowledge of the various calendars. \u201cAnthropologists visit the temples, read the inscriptions and invent stories, but they do not interpret the signs correctly. It is their imagination.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We are on the cusp of the era of beginning peace and living in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the 4th Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the 5th Sun. It is an interim period, and in this transition, there is a colossal global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war and progressive changes on Earth. <\/div>\n
All this was predicted by the simple spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. \u201cIt will change, everything will change.\u201d <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The specified date, the Winter Solstice of 2012, does not mark the end of the world. \u201cHumanity will continue, although in a different way. Material structures will change. We will have the opportunity to be more human. We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n
All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions, are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this age is action.<\/span><\/div>\n

Recently at a Mayan New Year ceremony, a respected elder, who lives in a cave in the mountains, traveled to Chichicastenango to speak to the attendees with a simple and direct message. He called on all humanity to unite in support of life and light. Currently, everyone is going their own way. \u201cThere will be hope if the people of light can come together and unite in some way.\u201d<\/li>\n

    \u00abWe live in a world of polarities: day and night, male and female, positive and negative. Light and dark need each other. They are a balance. Right now the dark side is very strong, and it is clear about what it wants. Its priorities are clearly set, and so is its hierarchy. They are working in many ways to make us unable to connect with the 5th World spiral in 2012. <\/div>\n

    \u00abOn the light side, everyone thinks they are the most important, that their own understanding or that of their group is key. There is a diversity of cultures and opinions, so there is competition, diffusion and not a single focus. <\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    The dark side wants to block the fusion, through denial and materialism. It also wants to destroy those who work with the light to bring the Earth to a higher level. The dark side likes the energy of the materialistic and decadent 4th World. They do not want change or fusion. <\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    Darkness can only be transformed when it is confronted with simplicity and open cordiality. This is what leads to fusion, a key concept for the World of the Fifth Sun.<\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    But right now, the dark is not interested in this. It is organized to block this. It seeks to destabilize the Earth and its environment so that we will not be ready for the 2012 alignment. We need to work together for peace and balance with the other side. We need to take care of the Earth that feeds and shelters us. <\/div>\n
    We cannot continue to play games. Our planet can be renewed or devastated. It is time to wake up and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here without a reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. These are hard times, but special ones.<\/div>\n

    Some suggestions to help people walk with balance during this time<\/span><\/div>\n

    "The prophesied changes will occur," he said, "but our attitudes and actions will determine how severe they will be. <\/div>\n

      <\/p>\n
    • Develop yourselves according to your own traditions and the calling of your heart. But respect differences and strive for unity. Eat wisely. Many foods are corrupted either in the subtle or the gross. Pay attention to what goes into your body. Conserve food and energy. Learn some good breathing techniques, so as to maintain control over your breathing.<\/li>\n
    • Be clear. Stick to some deep-rooted tradition. We live in a world of energy, so we must learn to sense the energy in everyone and everything: people, plants, animals. Go to sacred sites on earth to pray for peace, and maintain respect for the Earth that gives us our food, clothing, and shelter. <\/li>\n
    • We need to reactivate the energy of these sacred places. It is our task. Meditate for a moment in peace. <\/li>\n

      <\/p>\n

      The elders have opened the doors for other races to receive the tradition. The Maya have long appreciated and respected the fact that there are other colors, other races and other spiritual systems. \u201cThey know,\u201d he said, \u201cthat the destiny of the Mayan world is related to the destiny of the entire world.\u201d <\/div>\n
