Mindo tiene aproximadamente 2,500 habitantes que se dedican principalmente a la agricultura, cr\u00eda de ganado y turismo. Este discreto y muy tranquilo lugar, est\u00e1 ubicado en un valle, rodeado de 19,000 hect\u00e1reas protegidas de bosque primario y secundario.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: white;\">En sus alrededores se encuentran unas 500 variedades de p\u00e1jaros y aproximadamente 40 tipos de mariposas. Esta gran variedad en una regi\u00f3n tan peque\u00f1a es \u00fanica en Am\u00e9rica del Sur.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: white;\">Mindo fue llamado internacionalmente como \u201cVida de p\u00e1jaro o P\u00e1jaro Importante\u201d en Am\u00e9rica, por su flora excepcional, fauna y bot\u00e1nica, considerada vital para el desarrollo del turismo ecol\u00f3gico.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: white;\">El clima tiende a ser m\u00e1s suave que en Quito, la temperatura es aproximadamente entre los 15 \u00ba C &#8211; 24 \u00ba C (60 \u00ba La f &#8211; 75 \u00ba F) durante todo el a\u00f1o. Sus 19.200 hect\u00e1reas, abarca desde la pluviselva subtropical h\u00fameda hasta las paredes empinadas del Guagua Pichincha (sobre los 4.000m).<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"background-color: white;\">Aqu\u00ed existen casi 500 especies de aves, entre las cuales destaca el gallo de la pe\u00f1a, de color rojo brillante, que construye sus nidos en las vertiginosas paredes verticales de los ca\u00f1ones selv\u00e1ticos. En Mindo se dan cita aves como el tuc\u00e1n, papagayos, b\u00fahos, patos salvajes, quetzales, mirlos, colibris, caciques entre otros.
