WHAT DO YOU FIND IN THE LOMA ALTA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE?
It is home to more than 300 species of birds, 40 species of amphibians and reptiles, and more than 218 species of trees and epiphytic plants such as orchids and bromeliads. The Reserve includes cloud forest, pre-montane humid forest, and dry forest.
WHAT IS A CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN?
It is a race against time where ALL the birds in the forest are recorded for 24 hours.
Since it is during Christmas, the counting becomes a family activity, and since it is winter, migratory birds in Ecuador that come from North America are recorded.
WHEN IS IT? The weekend before Christmas Day (18th and 19th December)
HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
You don't have to be an expert birdwatcher, you just have to be interested in nature and have a sense of adventure.

WHERE IS THE RESERVATION?
On the Ruta del Sol or Spondylus route (Ecuador), to the right of the Valdivia junction (after San Pedro), following the road to Sinchal and Barcelona
From Guayaquil. Take the bus to Santa Elena and at the Valdivia crossing take the 2 de noviembre cooperative bus to Loma Alta.
