The network AVAAZ, perhaps the largest and most effective global online mobilization community, which integrates citizen-driven political action into global decision-making processes and which has been achieving positive changes around the world for some time now, has recently opened its interface to allow the inclusion of petitions directly from the people who make up the community.

AVAAZ It was founded in 2007 and is considered a transnational community (it reports more than 14 million members from 194 countries) that has undertaken more than 80 million actions, which is why it is announced that it could even be more effective today than the United Nations itself.

Until recently, all actions were created and promoted by the same organization, but a few days ago Avaaz announced that they “empower people through online tools that help achieve the world that most people want. Our community petitions provide a platform that gives citizens of the world the power to start and win campaigns at local, national and international levels.”

Although the platform for community requests is still in the testing phase, the prospects for the near future are very good.

From the (at least temporary) blocking of the destructive Belo Monte dam in Brazil, to accepting and confronting the problem, to the “targeted rape” of lesbian women in South Africa, to lobbying the UN to establish a no-fly zone in Libya, the successes achieved by the citizen power conglomerated in this community grow by the day. These are some of the most renowned achievements that have been promoted through AVAAZ.

If you want to know some of the global actions that are taking place right now you can see them from this link.

If you want to participate actively, creating your own petition and having all the support that this platform offers, you can start right now. from here.
