Through a wide variety of routes, with beautiful and safe trails, in different places in the provinces of Guayas, Santa Elena and Manabí, the adventure cycling project called Bike Spondylus.

Xavier Villegas, "a cycling entrepreneur" as he likes to call himself, is the mastermind and creator of this project that is taking shape through various tourist activities and cycle tours that he has been developing at different points on the Ruta del Sol or Ruta del Spondylus, "sometimes with the support of some institutions and other times just for the love of cycling" as Villegas confesses.

There are several routes that Bike Spondylus currently offers to those interested in forming groups of between 3 and 10 people who are willing to explore some of the attractions of the province. In all cases, the service includes: bicycles, helmet, guide, snacks and hydration. These are some of the available destinations:

1.- ALEX WATERFALLS - VIA SAN VICENTE DE LOJAS

The tour features a path surrounded by nature where you can connect and enjoy fresh air, bird watching and beautiful landscapes that will renew your spirit.

Crossing streams offers an extra adrenaline rush, the winding Olón River shows its singing and clean waters flowing down from the mountain to the sea.

Upon arrival, take a delicious bath in the waters of the waterfall coming from the Coloche mountain range, a renewing experience.

2.- GRAMADOR WATERFALL - VIA FEBRES CORDERO

The route begins in the Febres Cordero commune along a path that at times becomes a river bed, with a variety of flora and fauna typical of the dry forest region.

After an intense day of walking or cycling where the only thing you can hear is nature; suddenly the roar of the water hitting the rock can be heard in the distance. It is the Gramador, a small waterfall that can be heard from a great distance.

An invigorating experience after the activity, swimming is a must, and you can camp in the reserve.

3.- THE SIGH - VIA LOMA ALTA

The town of El Suspiro is a magical place located at the top of Loma Alta. To get there, you must cross the river on many occasions, which makes the walk a very humid and stimulating experience.

The water is crystal clear and the route passes through many wooded areas and some farms that grow straw and tagua and are also dedicated to raising cattle.

It rains constantly in the area, which increases the water level, making the crossing by bike or on foot more exciting.

4.- TWO MANGAS VIA MANGLARALTO

The area is one of the most beautiful to explore by bike, the hills frame the landscape in such a way that your vision will always be looking towards the sky.

On both sides of the road there are many livestock and agricultural farms where the presence of human work blends harmoniously with the surroundings.

Dos Mangas is characterized by being a town of artisans, recognized for its particular traditions. It receives this name because in ancient times the inhabitants called the rivers 'mangas' and near the town the Grande and Colín streams meet.

The waterfalls are an indescribable place with crystal clear and refreshing water that comes down from the top of the Colonche mountain range. The trip to the site takes 1 hour and 30 minutes on foot and 1 hour on horseback.
