The Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) through Luis Falconi (Viceminister) and the Ecuadorian Institute for Standardization (INEN) through its director Patricia León signed an institutional cooperation agreement that seeks to develop normative studies in the quality management of tourism institutions.

With the signing of this agreement, which was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Freddy Ehlers, an improvement in the conditions of productivity, services and tourist goods will be undertaken. It also offers to encourage programs and projects based on ethical and responsible tourism.

During his participation, Minister Ehlers stated that, for example, establishments that do not take care of hygiene in the bathrooms are being sanctioned, “we dream of having the best bathrooms,” he said.

He also stressed the need to join forces between the Government and Ecuadorian society to provide greater security to tourists and strengthen responsible tourism.
The government will therefore ensure that hotels comply with international standards and encourage the care of rivers and beaches.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry and Productivity, Verónica Sion, invited Ecuadorian citizens who offer tourism products or services to do so with quality.
INEN's involvement in this inter-institutional agreement will be through training for MINTUR officials who will participate in the collection of information necessary for compliance with the agreement.
