The Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku are once again pioneers in innovative proposals that promote their lifestyle choices regarding the care and respect for the Amazon rainforest: their home.
On this occasion, football is the tool in which the hearts and strength of this people, a benchmark for their fight for the Rights of Nature, the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and universal Human Rights, are placed through the HIJOS DEL JAGUAR, as the Sarayaku Sports Club is already known in the specialized media.
According to Eriberto Gualinga, president of the Sarayaku C.D., "it is the first time in the history of indigenous peoples that it has been decided to launch their message of life and defense of the Kawsak Sacha - Living Forest through the king of sports, soccer, and thus bring to the consciousness of men, women and children of all society the importance of the Amazon, its fragile ecosystems for the life of all living beings on this planet."
For Valerio Santi: "Our intention is to bring our message of life to a mass audience, through a football team that are messengers and human symbols of the defense of the Amazon."
Likewise, the Kichwa people of Sarayaku invite people around the world to join a crowdfunding campaign to strengthen this innovative action and help bring the message of the Kawsak Sacha and Border of Life proposals to more people everywhere where it is presented.
The Sarayaku CD also currently has a school, whose objective is to train more than one hundred children and a dozen young people so that they do not fall into the risk of alcohol addiction and continue to strengthen their dignity and culture; "the parents have left behind their suffering and strengthened by combining their cultural heritage" concludes Gualinga.
