The year 2010 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Biodiversity and the International Year of Youth and will begin on August 12 of this year.
The power of youth can be tremendous; from individual to collective action, youth are increasingly playing a more active role in environmental issues and are a powerful opportunity to improve our societies. We hope that this declaration will be an impetus to the energy, imagination and initiative of young people in the changes that we as humanity must face. In India, National Youth Day is celebrated on January 12 of each year in honor of Swami Vivekananda, a great philosopher, thinker and patron of youth.

It has also been declared the International Year of Biodiversity and during this period it is assumed that information will be disseminated, the protection of biodiversity will be promoted, and direct actions will be supported to reduce the constant loss of biodiversity on our planet.

From Ballenita, in coordination with other actors, we will continue to actively participate "in situ" from February to promote these two proposals in our communities.
