The Spondylus route, along with the Iron Route “In the Center of the World”, the Liberator of South America, the Volcanoes Route, the Flowers Route and the Yaku Ñamby Route (Water Route) are part of the new macro-tourism plan launched by the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador headed by Freddy Ehlers.
The minister stressed the preponderant role of nature in this new strategy, in which these new 6 thematic routes "aim to show the diversity of the country in a context of sustainability and development of national tourism in line with efforts to conserve the country's natural and cultural heritage."
With this global tourism promotion campaign, the objective is to position itself in the short term (five years) among the 20 most desired tourist destinations in the world.
This new tourism promotion campaign is aimed especially at individual visitors, and invites travelers from all over the world to experience Ecuador's diversity, nature and life first-hand under the motto “Love Life.” Ehlers is convinced that “only conscious tourism, which recognizes the value of nature, makes it possible for travelers to discover why Ecuador is a country worthy of admiration.”
