Among the visitors to Montañita there are those who prefer to avoid the night there and leave before the sun sets; there are those who come for a weekend and do not want to leave again and there are also those who come for a couple of days on their travel plan and stay for 20; then they leave and before they know it they are back. This is one of those stories by Luizinho from Portugal for Ballenita Sí.

We met a lot of people, a lot of things happened and we ended up staying longer than we expected in Montañita, but in reality the time flew by.

In the first few days we visited Ballenita, a town an hour from Montañita, where Fausto (an Ecuadorian friend) had a house. We spent a day there on the beach and took the opportunity to visit a museum on Farallon Dillon with the remains of old shipwrecks.

In the middle of the week we attended the “Night of Goblins” in one of the bars in Montañita, theatre, music, fire and performance done by some friends, among them two Spanish women, Irene and Leticia.

On the 19th we found out there was going to be a Full Moon trance party at Kamala, a cabin complex about a 10 minute walk from Montañita along the beach, and Victor, a Chilean friend who makes icosahedrons (20-sided three-dimensional geometric structures) suggested we do the party decorations. We accepted and had a lot of fun. The decorations were a spectacle and the party was amazing.

The rest of the days, we continue learning new macramé stitches, take advantage of the opportunity to produce and increase our assortment, and of course, walk around Montañita and its surroundings with the "gang of the choclitos" (the name given to us by Che the Argentine).

On Saturday, the 25th in Ecuador at 5 in the morning and after a farewell for which there are no words, we left behind a group of good friends that we will never forget…

After Montañita we went to Cuenca (the third largest city in Ecuador, it is very beautiful), we stayed there for 2 nights and then we went to Vilcabamba “the town of longevity”, where there is a large percentage of centenarians, some say it is because of the properties of the “Wilco” (Vilca) tree, which gives its name to the city, others say it is the water… What is certain is that there is an immense tranquility in Vilcabamba… Maybe this is the reason…

We were supposed to wait for the rest of the "choclito gang" here, but as the future is uncertain and plans change, we decided to return to Montañita to spend a few more days and do some final dives in the waters of the Pacific. We took advantage of this opportunity to go to Olon, quieter and perhaps more beautiful than Montañita.

Saturday 3rd, we left Montañita at 5 pm towards Peru and, after more than 24 hours of travel we arrived at our destination, Chachapoyas, Kuelap to visit one of the most important ruins in Peru, although little known, they say it is the Machu Picchu of northern Peru.
