The first fishing facility in Santa Rosa (Province of Sta. Elena), One of the main artisanal fishing ports in the Salinas canton, and characterized by the surprising amount of marine species caught (white fishing),  It was put into operation on February 14 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP) through the Undersecretariat of Fisheries Resources and the Decentralized Autonomous Government of Salinas as part of the Docks and Fishing Facilities Program.

The objective of this work is to help improve the competitiveness of artisanal fishermen and improve their income through access to new marketing alternatives. In this facility, local workers were also trained on management, operation, handling and sustainable use of resources and the marketing services that the facility provides. 
The Santa Rosa Artisanal Fishing Facility has various areas that allow for optimal processing of the fish, complying with environmental and hygiene standards established at national and international level. Mr. Ramón González Suarez, president of the Santa Rosa Artisanal Fishing Cooperative, said: “It is a large facility with the best conditions for the fish product. We have spacious containers and there will be fair prices with cleaning, ice and scales with real weights.” 
The operation will be carried out by biologist María del Carmen Palomino and several young people from the town who have received the necessary training for the proper functioning of the Santa Rosa Fishing Facility. 
The opening hours for fishermen are from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
